I’m quite disappointed

Given that SearchCamp is the first of its kind, perhaps in the country as well, and also that NRich would soon be marketing its products online, I had expected to catch the pearls of wisdom as they fell out of the experts’ mouth!  Alas, it was not to be so!!

I was taken in by the first sentence of the SearchCamp site which reads “SearchCamp is a two day event aimed to bring together the best minds from the Search Engine Marketing space to talk about search engine advertising, including optimization and marketing issues” and thought that I would, as a prospective customer to the online space, would learn and benefit.  But it turned out that the majority of the participants were SEO professionals themselves and hence the discussions centred around that target audience.  I only hope that atleast they got value from attending the event!

My key takeaway from the first day is “Don’t expect to get your math right the first time.  Keep tweaking the elements regularly till you get balance and then again keep tweaking!!!”

I was also quite perturbed about the lack of knowledge sharing as the forum was mainly used to promote the services and the expertise of majority of the presenters.

I hope, as Kiruba mentioned, that the second day would be better!!

It wasnt centered around seo, it was centered around a bunch of self centric moron’s who wanted to promote their companies.

PS: When these iddy’s having big companies want to leverage on event’s like this, what do small guy’s like us do?

    Ashwin,

small guys like us spend time and money to listen to the biggies and then blog about it as well!

and btw, did you see anybody use the law of two feet at all to start a discussion of their own? I didn’t!

    Balaji,

Despite your reservations, I thought you will atleast make a guest appearance on the second day! You missed some real cool presentations!
