Ireland and Bangladesh show the way!

When the world cup started, I was really wondering why the ICC had teams like Canada, Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands, Bermuda in the World Cup.  I had reasoned that it was primarily to give an appearance of democracy at work!

When Australia thrashed Netherlands and when India battered (no pun intended) Bermuda (the sole consolation for the country, as it turned out) i felt really vindicated.  Now I had an extra point that these countries were a prop or a punchbag so that leading countries can boost their scores and averages.

I was shocked when Ireland beat Pakistan to throw the latter out of the world cup but i thought it was a flash in the pan.

Now at the end of the qualifying rounds, Ireland and Bangladesh have qualified for the Super 8 and this is a clear signal for the establishment.  Even Australia cannot afford  to take these two teams lightly

History repeats itself as my memory races to the 1983 world cup when just one soul (the guy who raked in millions by betting on India) thought that India would become world champions.

I am really excited about the forthcoming matches although i am a bit sad that we are not there in the reckoning!
