WE are responsible

All of us (and that includes yours truly) are responsible for India’s disastrous exit (in fact, it is not such a bad thing after all) from the world cup at the initial stages.

Most, if not all, of us were silent when the team was announced and did not voice our opinions about the suitability (or the lack of it) of some players.

We again kept quiet when there were allegations about the Captain’s preferences for some players being met.

We also turned the other way when there was this excessive commercialization  which drew the players from the game itself.

We joined the huge pretense bandwagon in the media about  India emerging as Champions and lifting the Cup, when we knew that other teams were really preparing without much ado!

And now, we are baying for some blood having forgotten that we played a major part at every stage!

And this is what we do in our elections and the political process as well!

Hail the silent majority!

A kind of ‘muted’ responsibility. Which voices itself rarely and dies down fast.
