Valuable lessons for India

Sanath Jayasuriya (aged 37) blasted his third world cup century during the match against the WI by scoring 115 off just 101 deliveries by scoring 10 fours and 4 sixes and helped his country win by a whopping 113 runs.

That Srilanka managed to reach 303 in their alloted 50 overs after being 50 for 2 in the first 15 over, clearly shows their resilience and intentions. And WI team is not a pushover team that one can really accelerate like this.

The first lesson for the Indian team is that it is possible to take charge against any opponent even after being bogged down at an earlier stage.

And the second is do not let age (or any other factor for that matter) become an excuse for non-performance.

I simply pity the WI for having their matches so closely after one another and I am really wondering why they did not protest about this earlier. They are likely to be eliminated from the world cup after 3 successive losses in the Super 8.

Congrats Lanka!
