England, where art thou?

Although England won a face-saving match against the once mighty West Indies in the World Cup 2007, they were never a serious contender.

And this country had invented the game and figured in three World Cup Finals : 1979 (when they lost to West Indies by 92 runs), 1987 (when they lost to Australia by 7 runs in the nail-biting finish at Kolkota) and 1992 (when they lost to Pakistan by 22 runs)!!!!!!!

And ever since, they have not been in the reckoning at all!

Prpbably did better this year than us kiwis….We lost to Aussie by 215 runs! Now from what I understand we are in the finals…but hell…we lost to Aussie and by 215 runs…that is so far past bad that I dont know if we will recover…
Aussie wont let us live it down. England isnt a bad team…the won the rugby world cup ( I dont know how though). I think perhaps they need a push in the right direction…or a revamp in the team? Im just going by what Ive seen not by what I know of the team members in particular.

Yeah, that drubbing of NZ by Au was very severe indeed!

The English team had boasted of some very talented cricketers such as Ian Botham ( a match-winner on his own right), David Gower (the world has not seen a stylish left hander since), Mike Gatting, Graham Gooch (who can forget his bat lift), Allan Lamb but what was perhaps missing was a cohesive approach to winning.

Perhaps they also lacked a very strategic captain such as Mike Brearley!

Perhaps so I return to my previous statement of perhaps they need a new team?

There are some key guys like Vaughn, Flintoff, Collingwood and Kevin Petersen in this team itself, who can turn around a match in their favour.

They need a couple of anchor batsman (like Hayden for Australia) who perform consistently and also cohesive leadership.

Tinkering with teams hardly produce any result!

Ok I concede that point. I appreciate you using a player i know of as an example. Perhaps they will do better next year…or maybe they should borrow some of our players? lol wouldnt that be interesting.
